Elephant

Born from a tree felled by an elephant in the Greater Kruger, this bowl carries the mark of an encounter no one witnessed. The species remains unidentified — by the time the wood reached the lathe, it had already forgotten its own name.

It has taken on a dense, near-black hue that draws out every cavity and scar left by the fall. Hand-turned from wood already on the ground, its cracks, splits, and tool marks are left exactly as found.
