Oak

A small bowl with an outsized presence, turned from a cork oak branch found in the suburbs. Worked while still wet, it warped as it dried — a shift held in place by exposed loops of wire along the rim, rather than disguised.

Ebonised and dark, its subtle grain and quiet distortion give it a sense of permanence far beyond its size.
